NetStar-1 provides network management, Tier 2 customer support services, systems administration, and continuity of operations support to the USDA OCIO and NTSO. Our team uses ITIL and other best practices to aid the USDA in its goal to continually address emerging technologies. The overall objectives of the NMSS are to: (1) perform a critical, centralized, customer-centric coordination function, (2) provide technical assistance, and (3) provide superior customer support services to agencies, external customers, and stakeholders. As part of this effort, the NetStar-1 Team is responsible for monitoring and sustaining all network resources, while maintaining 99.9% network availability. The USDA’s approach to an integrated telecommunications NMSS solution is to provide complete Service Level Management (SLM) capabilities. As a result, team’s methodologies, technical approach, tools, and products meet or exceed the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework and Organizational for International Standards ISO 20000.
