Rockville, MD. – March 26, 2009 – NetStar-1 has announced that its customer, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), has been selected as one of the “Top 21” finalists for the Excellence.Gov awards. Presented by the Industry Advisory Council, the annual Excellence.Gov awards honor the Federal Government’s best IT projects. OPM’s Enterprise Human Resources Integration (EHRI) project was chosen as a finalist from over 60 nominations.
The theme of this year’s awards is “Transparency: Using IT to improve the interaction between Government and its Stakeholders.” OPM’s EHRI project has been a prime example of a Government agency providing transparency to its stakeholders. As part of the Office of Management and Budget mandate to eliminate paper Official Personnel Folders (OPFs) within five years, EHRI is converting folders for over 1.8 million active Federal employees to electronic format. Through EHRI, OPM has provided Federal employees with the ability to securely view their electronic OPFs (eOPFs) online, and also reduced the cost and time required to transfer OPFs.
“We congratulate OPM on this well-deserved nomination,” said Bill Strang, CEO of NetStar-1. “The Federal Government is continually identifying new ways to leverage efficiencies and standardize its processes and forms to improve transparency, for both its internal customers, and the general public. Through EHRI, OPM is definitely meeting these goals, and NetStar-1 is proud to be part of the team supporting OPM EHRI as it continues to create a more open and responsive Federal Government.”
The Excellence.Gov award winners will be selected from the 21 finalists, and will be announced at a lunch on April 14th.
